Singapore - Tour Bus

Today I spent on tour buses, so I have a lot of blurry pictures of buildings.

The central business district is mostly modern buildings, skysrappers and shopping malls, with the occasional historic landmark.

The only interesting thing about the modern stuff is the application of Feng Shui. For example, there's a triangular skyscrapper, with a sharp edge. That's very bad luck for the building it's pointing at, so it needs lots of Feng Shui protection. Adds a whole new dimension to business rivalry.

More interesting are the areas, in and around the business district, where various races were grouped together. These each have their own distinctive style and culture. There's a Chinese area, an Indian, a Malay etc. They're going to be worth a closer look.

Between tour buses I visited the Fountain of Wealth, the biggest fountain in the world.

Also a food court that had been set up for the Food Festival. A bit artificial, but a nice introduction to the scene. Food courts are very Singapore. They're a update of the old street hawkers, and a perfect solution to the many cuisines that merge here. They consist of an eating area surrounded by small stalls, each selling their own speciality. First up, a Roti Prata.
